The process of composing DIFFER was a game-changer for me. My previous full length-albums were composed and recorded in a few weeks, collections of more or less improvised songs, much in the vein of early TD. But as I wrote the EPs CONCLUSION and FOREIGN PULSES, my approach in composition and simultaneously my sound changed. I began writing score oriented music and I sat down to conceive a dramaturgy for each and every track. With DIFFER I continued working this way and took even more time trying to capture the right mood and tempo for the songs. I refer to the songs as cues, thinking of them as parts of an imaginary soundtrack. Most of them are rather short, but they all are intended to guide you through your own mind-cinema.

The instrumentation is focused on piano, guitar, score-percussion and orchestral elements plus field recordings, based on electronic sound layers, inspired by IDM and ambient-electronica.

Writing DIFFER took several months, which for me is quite a long time, as I am usually a pretty fast writer. But taking more time allowed me to re-think and rewrite the cues, which suddenly led me to unexpected variations within the tracks. The task was to write somewhat dramatic and/or thematic material - music that is able to change it's destination within a short duration. For me it was very important to write as diverse and unpredictable as possible .

Truth is, writing music is definitely a precious part of a self-therapy. Therefore this album is a deep trip into my mind. It's a mood thing. Music is able to express what words can't say, right? So, I let my subconcious speak to tell my story. And it will be continued.
